“Drew and crew of Tool and Trade rebuilt my deck. From the start I was impressed by the way Drew, the owner, took a genuine interest in my project. He listened to my concern and particular things I wanted to achieve and made a few rather creative solutions that we discussed at length. He took the time (shifting an appointment he had after to ensure we fully discussed the project) to make sure that I picked the material and color that I was really happy with. Later, when I wasn't entirely sure about the railing options, he sourced a different option that closer fit my vision. Then there was the execution of the project: the care and workmanship was meticulous. This started even before the deck went on: places where other companies may cut corners, like adding waterproofing strips, etc. Drew ensure were installed. The actual deck was immaculate, and Drew also made a bench I wanted in a more complex "waterfall" style, that took more work, but gave a stunning minimalist finish to the deck.

At all times, communication was open, smooth and pleasant. The crew arrived on time, and when I expressed a desire to hold a party on my deck, Drew tried his hardest (and succeeded!) in getting the deck ready on time for that even though we hadn't discussed the timing of the party ahead of time. I appreciated his flexibility, and felt like the enjoyment of my deck was a high priority for him.”

The Project

This Camano Island homeowner reached out because her old cedar deck was worn down, starting to rot in places, and needed too much maintenance. The old wood railings also blocked her scenic view of the Puget Sound from her deck. After settling on TimberTech PVC Mahogany for a low-maintenance and beautiful look, we went with a low-profile black aluminum railing with stainless steel cable to keep her view as open as possible. We also replaced an existing bench with a modern-style one with waterfall decking that incorporated a storage space underneath.

Our client absolutely loved her new deck, and so did her pups.
